A Tribute to Ginger Baker

I am very sad to hear of the death of Ginger Baker today at the age of 80. Ginger was Rock’s first superstar drummer and became an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Cream, of the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2008 and of the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2016.

Faeland 2019

Faeland

Last year, I posted my reviews of a live concert and first album by the contemporary, indie, folk band Faeland. Since its release, the album “All My Swim” has received widespread support and acclaim. I am now delighted to be able to report that Faeland are currently recording their 2nd album –

Magic Bus LP

Autumn 2018 represents two 50th anniversaries for The Who. Firstly, The Who released their “Magic Bus” single in the UK. Daniel McGillis

Daniel McGillis

Daniel is a computer engineer and devoted musician based in Winnipeg. As an example of an Irish song that has permeated the folk music of the British Isles (and beyond) with many recordings by various artistes spanning at least 6 decades, “She Moved Through the Fair” would be a necessary inclusion in my list.

Mystical Mountain – Magic Bus

Magic Bus

When I saw that the reincarnation of one of my favourite bands, Gong, were playing in nearby Totnes on my birthday, I went with a friend. However, the highlight of my evening was the performance of the main support act, ‘Magic Bus’, a local (Totnes) band described by Shindig as ‘West Country heads’. They are evidently accomplished musicians and their use of flute, keyboards and vocals are ….
